Porcelain evaporating dish

Porcelain evaporating dishes are used for evaporating and concentrating solutions or igniting solids. They have a large mouth and shallow bottom and come in two types: round bottom and flat bottom with handle. The most commonly used are porcelain evaporating dishes, but there are also those made of glass, quartz, and platinum. Different materials have different corrosion resistance, so the appropriate one should be selected according to the properties of the solution and solid.
There are two types: evaporating dishes with and without handles. Specifications are indicated by diameter, with various sizes such as 60~150mm.
Main uses: evaporating liquids, concentrating solutions, or drying solid substances.
Precautions:
1) After heating, do not cool suddenly to prevent cracking.
2) After heating, do not place it directly on the lab bench; place it on an asbestos net to avoid burning the lab bench.
3) When the amount of liquid is large, it can be heated directly; when the amount is small or the liquid is viscous, heat it with an asbestos net.
4) When heating the evaporating dish, constantly stir with a glass rod to prevent the liquid from being heated locally and splashing.
5) After heating, use crucible tongs to move the evaporating dish.
6) After a large amount of solid precipitates, extinguish the alcohol lamp and use the residual heat to evaporate the remaining water. Porcelain evaporating dishes can withstand high temperatures but cannot be cooled suddenly. Crucible tongs should be used to handle the evaporating dish, and a tripod or iron stand should be used to fix it when heating. When the amount of liquid is large, it can be evaporated directly over a flame, but the amount of liquid should not exceed two-thirds of its capacity. When the amount of liquid is small or viscous, heat it with an asbestos net. Evaporating dishes are mainly used for distillation and other operations and are ideal chemical distillation instruments.
