At the 3rd International Industrial Ceramics Exhibition held in Shanghai from April 7th to 9th, the exhibition group organized by the Xiangdong District government of Pingxiang, Jiangxi Province, known as the "Capital of Industrial Ceramics in China," became a major highlight. This group, comprised of the Pingxiang Industrial Ceramics Base and other departments along with 14 key enterprises, not only occupied the most prominent position in the exhibition area, but also the welcome archway at the entrance of the exhibition area and the words "Capital of Industrial Ceramics in China" on the Rainbow Bridge outside the exhibition hall filled the entire exhibition with "Xiangdong elements." The person in charge of Shanghai Shikong Exhibition Company, which organized the exhibition, told reporters that this was the first time a government-organized exhibition group had appeared at an industrial ceramics exhibition in recent years.
Professor Zhen Qiang, the deputy district head of Xiangdong District who led the group to the exhibition, told reporters that the reason they invested significant effort in organizing some leading enterprises to participate was to build a higher-level platform closer to domestic and international markets, expand the awareness and influence of the Xiangdong industrial ceramics cluster, bridge the gap between the Xiangdong industrial ceramics industry and advanced technologies, customers, and peers at home and abroad, and strengthen the overall brand of the "Capital of Industrial Ceramics in China."
The effect of the Xiangdong District government's group participation was fully demonstrated at this exhibition. Reporters saw on-site that every visitor, both domestic and foreign, was attracted by the Xiangdong exhibition area in its prominent location. More than 100 products on display, including microporous ceramic dust removers from Pingxiang Putian Gaoko and high-purity alumina raw materials from Huangguan Chemical, generated great interest among visitors. In the two and a half days of the exhibition, nearly 10,000 visitors toured the Xiangdong booth, nearly ten domestic and foreign businesses reached procurement intentions on the spot, and the Xiangdong District government also reached cooperation intentions with relevant enterprises from Germany and Australia. Qiu Shangeng, general manager of Pingxiang Jinhui Environmental Protection Company, which focuses on high-performance ceramic membrane filter tubes, told reporters that this was their first time participating in such an exhibition, and not only did many customers become familiar with their products, but also two large customers from Taiwan conducted negotiations with them.
According to Huang Hui, director of the Pingxiang Industrial Ceramics Industry Base, Xiangdong is a well-known industrial ceramics production base in China. Its chemical ceramics products account for more than 60% of the domestic market share, and in January 2009, it was named the "Capital of Industrial Ceramics in China" by the China Ceramic Industry Association. However, for many years, Xiangdong's ceramic enterprises have relied entirely on individual efforts to develop the market, and the agglomeration effect of the industry has not been fully transformed into market advantages. To this end, the district began to build a ceramics industry base in 2006, changing the "loose" development model to a "concentrated" development model.
